National Canadian Film Day (CanFilmDay) is a really big party, and you’re invited!

CanFilmDay has taken root as our largest annual celebration of Canadian culture, and it’s a unique opportunity for you to host a free screening for your community.

Twenty-five years after starring in the hit 90s film Smoke Signals, Cody Lightning directs and stars in this uproarious mockumentary about a fictionalized version of himself attempting to make a sequel on a shoestring budget, without any of the original cast interested in participating.

In this charming animated adventure set in the distant future, a young girl raised by a robot becomes a space cadet, and gets selected for her first interstellar adventure. As she encounters challenges on her quest, she is guided by the lessons and memories of her childhood.


Tous Toqués! (All Stirred Up!)

In this heartwarming comedy set in a small Quebec town near the US border, a reviled customs officer convinces a famous chef to mentor her 10-year-old daughter as she prepares to compete in a prestigious local youth cooking competition.


You Are Here: A Come From Away Story

Director: Moze Mossanen / Year: 2018 / 83 min / PG

This moving documentary shows how the town of Gander, Newfoundland, came together to feed, shelter and support 6,600 stranded airline passengers for 6 days in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. This incredible true story inspired the smash-hit musical Come From Away.


Youngblood

Director: Hubert Davis / Year: 2025 / 105 min / NR

Dean Youngblood, a top hockey prospect in the minor leagues, faces the prospect of his career ending early when he’s suspended for an on-ice incident. Given a new chance on a new team, he has to face his aggression head-on to get back on track and lead his team to a championship.
