The Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) plays an important role in the province’s creative industries, stimulating and promoting the work of artists in publishing, digital media, music and of course film and television. It is no surprise, then, that OMDC would want to be part of celebrating National Canadian Film Day 150 (NCFD 150). So many of our great Ontario-produced Canadian films have involved contributions from OMDC.
One of those films is Atom Egoyan’s REMEMBER, which was a recipient of the OMDC Film Fund in 2014-2015. This dramatic thriller follows a Holocaust survivor (Christopher Plummer) attempting to track down the last living Auschwitz block leader responsible for killing his family. With the help of a fellow survivor (Martin Landau), he must work against time and his own creeping dementia. The film’s performances are as memorable as its plot twists are shocking!
REMEMBER will screen at Toronto’s Cineplex Varsity Theatre, presented by OMDC. The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will introduce the film along with its producer Robert Lantos. They will even be joined via Skype by the film’s director, Atom Egoyan, who is taking time out of a busy schedule in BC to make an appearance!
