RCtv: From Our Screens to Yours

March 17, 2017

Ever since we announced National Canadian FIlm Day 150 (NCFD 150), we’ve been humbled by the overwhelming support we’ve gotten across the country. This year is Canada’s 150th birthday, so we’ve been working hard alongside our screening partners and supporters to make April 19, 2017 the largest celebration EVER of our culture and identity — through our nation’s rich and diverse cinema.

One of the many exciting initiatives we’ve got planned for NCFD 150 is RCtv, an innovative 60-minute webcast for high school students, developed in partnership with REDspace with the support of Google Canada.

Participating high schools across the country will screen either BREAKAWAY or THE TROTSKY before the day of the webcast. On April 19, we’ll broadcast LIVE from YouTube Space Toronto where we’ll feature a Q&A with Vinay Virmani, star of BREAKAWAY, and other star guests. There will also be an exciting online game that will give participating students inventive and fun ways to engage and interact with the programme, the special guests, AND with each other.

The webcast will screen in over 150 high schools across the country – from Thrive Community Youth Network in Saint-John’s Newfoundland, the Inuujaq School in Arctic Bay, Robert Service School in Dawson, YT to Vancouver Technical Secondary School and many more. This webcast connecting schools from coast-to-coast-to-coast will give thousands of Canadian students a chance to be part of an awesome shared experience on NCFD 150. RCtv is just one of the many special ways we’re celebrating our country’s 150th on April 19, 2017.
