For a month leading up to April 19, VIFF invites audiences to take a closer look at the evolving face of a country busily reimagining itself. Home Truths is a month-long programme culminating in special screenings on CanFilmDay at the VIFF Centre Vancity Theatre.
In this exclusive programme, curated by VIFF in partnership with REEL CANADA, we present 11 mini-masterpieces by a cross-section of Canadian auteurs, including David Cronenberg, Denis Villeneuve, Charles Officer, Guy Maddin, Ann Marie Fleming, and Atom Egoyan. This collection includes Academy Award-nominated animation, fantasy, comedy, drama, an eco-musical, and work from Indigenous artists Danis Goulet, Kent Monkman, and the late Jeff Barnaby, to whom this programme is dedicated.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with filmmakers David Fine and Alison Snowden (Animal Behaviour) and Ann Marie Fleming (Big Trees).
