100 Years of Snow and Sass

In 2019, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first Canadian feature film, Back to God’s Country, we took a humorous approach to curation. We put together a list of 100 films that are chock-full of two qualities that we think have been emblematic for Canadian films since 1919: snow and sass. In a country that loves talking about the weather, snow is the Canadian-est of weather phenomena. And let’s face it, we may poke fun at ourselves for apologizing to inanimate objects when we bump into them, but underneath this country’s polite exterior, there lies an attitude of pure sass!
