Summary

The murder of a young woman and subsequent light sentence for her killer send shockwaves through the Kidabanesee reserve in Northern Ontario. Best friends Silas (Black) and Frank (Beach), castoffs looking for a direction in life, team up with their recently paroled friend Gooch (Greyeyes) to seek justice the old fashioned way.

Winner of two Genie Awards, this film was groundbreaking as one of the first films to feature a predominantly Indigenous cast, and helped to launch the careers of some of Canada’s most celebrated actors including Adam Beach, Michael Greyeyes, and Jennifer and Tamara Podemski.

Cast Jennifer Podemski (Anishinaabe), Adam Beach (Anishinaabe), Ryan Rajendra Black (Anishinaabe/Ojibwe)
